It's the end of May?! This month flew by for me. We are beginning to tie up things for the end of school and summer break. The colleges are finished. High school ends in two weeks and elementary school ends in three weeks.

We've been working on small retaining wall last week and this week. I am hoping that we finish up by next weekend. Our back yard is muddy and I haven't had time to plant any annuals in the pots for the front porch or the back patio. Once that wall is finished, we'll have to wash down the patio from the mud and put mulch down. I don't have it on my list for now but I'll add it to my list as it gets done.

I've been going back and adding things to my list that weren't on there on Sundays. It's amazing what comes up during the week. It is also helping me feel better about the fact that things really are getting done even if it wasn't on my original list.

Day 3 of a long weekend here. I had a lot that I wanted to do this weekend that I have not. Trying to find the balance between getting stuff done and resting is hard for me. I would like to work on timings so that I don't spend Sundays (in this case Monday) running around frantically getting things done for the new week.

Not sure if I have to try and get more things done through the week, vacuuming. folding etc which will help free up weekends. Something to definitely work on for the next few weeks.

LOL! So true. Those quiet weeks can turn into not so quiet weeks around here.

It is hard, even with planning, because something seems to pop up unexpectedly.

We finished the wall on Monday. While I ran to pick up my daughter from her service trip on Monday, my dh washed the patio off, cleaned out the gutters and put the mulch down. Some of the flowers got planted too. I was so grateful that my dh was able to get that done for me. :)

We had a bad storm come through that brought flooding to our yard. We had a tornado warning, about 2 inches of rain and some hail all withing 45 minutes. All the mulch that my dh put down above the retaining wall, was washed to where wall meets the ground. Even with the gutters cleaned out, they couldn't hold the volume of water we received. I took my morning walk through the neighborhood and there is debris all over from the flooding. This morning we shored up the wall and garden area. We are expecting similar conditions this afternoon and tonight.

At this point of the week, I will have to focus on the school related work to get done.

Mary, that flooding is such a shame after your hardwork. So glad that you and DH are safe though.

Yes, it was a bit discouraging but you are right, we are safe and that is more important. We have since come up with a plan to help move the water away from the retaining wall. We will be working on this for the next few weekends.

I cleaned one gutter this afternoon. It took three hours which is more time than I expected. It does look very nice now.

Mary, good on you for coming up with a plan. Working hard for the next few weekends will be well worth the effort.

I am tearing through the list this weekend, getting a bit more done through the week has helped.
