I have been to America in the fall and sampled pumpkin spiced lattes and the like. Probably more an American thing. Did you know we don't have Starbucks here? We have several other large coffee chains but don't think they offer seasonal drinks.

Mary- what extracts and spice mixes are you making? Love your Covid 2nd wave prep idea! I'm going to work on that as well and it will tie in with hurricane prep since hurricane season starts on June 1st and they are anticipating 4-7 hurricanes in the Pacific this year.
Katrina- I had no idea that Australia doesn't have Starbucks, how interesting!

My weeks seem like they all look the same right now, not much variation.

I am hoping to go through my freezers and pantry very soon and take stock of what I have. The initial panic is over but like most do not want to become complacent especially about food and cleaning supplies. While there is a lull I will try and stock up where I can.

I had a feeling those drinks were more American. I did think that Starbucks would be one chain to reach Australia.

Yes, it's super busy even with us staying at home. Graduation is at the end of the month. We are still trying to figure out how this will look for us here. We've got some ideas going but we're still testing the waters with it.

Mary- what extracts and spice mixes are you making? Love your Covid 2nd wave prep idea!

My most often made are pizza seasoning, taco seasoning, Ranch Dry Mix, and a version of "Good Seasoning" dry mix. I've wanted to try making extracts for years. I made mint extract and anise extract over the weekend. I think it takes at least two weeks to age. I will try it in a few weeks and see if it should sit longer. I also want to make vanilla extract. The beans are not cheap but I think I can make a large amount for less. Vanilla takes a good few months to age.

4-7 hurricanes? I'm on edge with just one and I'm a few hours inland too. We usually get the hurricanes coming up the East Coast in September. That's when I usually get ready for them. We get hit with rain and winds. It's not as bad as the shore points but it's enough to cause flooding, down trees, and power outages.

We've lost power 5 times now in 2 weeks. One time was due to wind. Another one was due to an accident. We have no idea what caused the other three outages. Two of those outages were at night. It was so unexpected to have no warning, no storm and then power goes out. Now we're leaving candles burning at night until we go to bed. LOL! Anyway, it's making me think about all these things that I should buy sooner versus later.

Mary, mum and I are going to make seasoned bread crumbs. (Not sure if I mentioned that here). We will wait until the end of the year but we are saving our bread scraps, will toast them and then add different seasonings. We will put them in decorative bottles. Can be used to crumb meats or add to au gratin potatoes etc. We are interested to see how they work
