American Thanksgiving is 2 weeks from today!

I love reading what everyone is having for their holiday meals! Sometimes you get some good ideas. I think it is HouseElf who had the recipe for sweet potatoes and pinepple? I'm really wanting to try that one.

Menu - 2013
Cheese & crackers
Crab dip

Appetizer - Fresh fruit c0cktail
Relish Tray of stuffed celery, green and black olives
Roast turkey
Stuffing (always attempt homemade and will try again this year, also do Stovetop!)
Mashed potatoes and gravy
Green bean casserole
Creamed spinach
Acorn squash
Candied sweet potatoes
Cranberry sauce, canned and homemade
Rolls, usually crescent
Beverages - iced tea, water, soda, wine, egg nog, coffee
Dessert - All homemade
Apple pie
Pumpkin pie
Cheesecake

What is everyone else having? Are you cooking or going to someone's house. Going to a restaurant? Our first year in FL, we had stuffed salmon and grilled steak. Wasn't too keen on making a big turkey dinner at first, but I've managed to learn how to make a great meal each year.

Jessica-How is the butterscotch pie made? Pudding or chips (dumb question, I know). I seem to remember this from back in the day. I always get the slow cooked green beans at the one southern restaurant we frequent. Love them!

Deidra-OMG, stuffed celery with the bleu cheese! I just do cream cheese, but I love bleu cheese dip & celery, what a great idea.

Oh Minta, That's a good idea to map out breakfast. Sometimes I forget to eat breakfast on a Holiday only remembering when I start to feel faint.

Robin- I had found a recipe for a butterscotch pie that used pudding but I never tried it. I just use my chocolate chip pie recipe and substitute butterscotch chips for the chocolate ones. It's just 1 1/2 sticks of butter, 1/2 cup of sugar, 1/2 cup flour, and 1/2 cup of packed brown sugar. Mix that together and then add in the chips, put in an unbaked 9" pie shell and bake for 55-60 minutes at 375*.

With my Aunt either arriving Wed night or early Thurs morning and with kids in the house a breakfast plan is a must. I try to plan for things that can be made the night before and just tossed into the oven the next morning.

Oh Minta, your meals sound delicious - I wish I were dining at your home ...

Gidget-

Thanks ... if you find yourself in south NJ for thanksgiving stop by... I always make plenty of food.

Everyone's menu sounds delish.

What was only to be immediate family gathering for Thanksgiving at my house has expanded to include a few cousins. I'm not complaining though. :)

My menu will be:

Roast turkey with herb butter
Sweet cherry spiral ham
Ranch style wingettes (special request)
Mix Collard and Kale greens
Crab stuffing
Homemade gravy (I use the jibblets and neck from the turkey)
Mac and cheese
Sauerkraut
sweet potatoes
red potato salad
Garlic mashed pototes (another special request)
fresh baked rolls
cranberry sauce
deviled eggs

For desserts I am making a couple of sweet potato pies, a pineapple upside down cake and an apple pie. I LOVE apple pie. If time permits I may make a couple dozen cookies for the smaller kids.

Aggie, your menu sounds wonderful!

I've read about your crab stuffing, I would love to try that some day.
