Happy January 2011 Rudolph Day girls and boys!

Here is the first installment of online archived Christmas music and programming. There are plenty of online Christmas music radio stations, but here we will concentrate on sources that you may download into your mp3 player so you can untether from your computer and go mobile!

Sometimes a source will be shared that offers an online stream only. When we do, the programming will be different from just the top 100 Christmas tunes you hear everywhere else!

You don't have to wait for me either! Find and share! Shoot, it doesn't even have to be Rudolph Day to share!

As is often the case, some of these shares will be for a limited time. In fact, any shared link is subject to "go dark" and become broken. So, get 'em while the're hot!

Speaking of time sensitive, the first link out of the Rudolph Day gate is from the "Bone Conduction Music Show". Every Sunday before Christmas is my pal Thayrone's "BCMS Christmas Extravaganza, Baby" show airs on WAAM in Ann Arbor, Michigan, USA. The good news is that the shows are archived for about four weeks at Thayrone's webpage!

Each of the four hours is available as a stream and/or download. Get them now by heading over to http://www.thayrone.com/bcms/ and downloading the December 19, 2010 show. Choose it from the 'Select A Show' box on top of the current program.

Hurry! The Christmas show will roll off the archives in about two weeks!

Happy February 2011 Rudolph Day!

A good Second 2011 Rudolph Day to you!

You may have heard me rave on at MMC about Special Xmas that used to play each season on XM Satellite Radio. To my dismay, Special Xmas was dropped after 2007.

Well, I have found a download for 19 hours of Special Xmas programming from 2007!

Access is denied from work... I'll get it at home.

Thanks Radio JohnD!

Happy March 2011 Rudolph Day!!!

Good Third Rudolph Day 2011! Only eight more to go!

Public Radio WFMU in Jersey City, New Jersey is just about a clearinghouse for the odd and obscure. Christmas music is no exception.

For March 2011 Rudolph Day we will again visit WFMU. By scrolling down to December 2010 & then to December 2009, we find nine, count' 'em, nine Christmas podcasts from Bitslap with KBC. Playlists are included for those that want to follow along while listening. Just don't while driving! KBC plays some cool out of print stuff!

Warning! Some material may not be suited for children and the easily offended.[/QUOTE]

Rudy Day April 2011!

The Takeaway's Holiday (Re)Mix Tape

Muzak 'Audio Architect' on Shopping Tunes

Happy Half Christmas & June 2011 Rudolph Day!

Wow! Can ya hardly believe it! It's Half Christmas for 2011 already! Time's-a-waistin'!

WGN Radio 720 AM Chicago has two classic Christmas programs from years past for stream or download.

First up is from 1976 (updated from 1969). 'The Christmas Newscast' reports the first Christmas as it might have sounded using modern radio newsgathering techniques. The piece runs 24:18.

Second is 'Letters to Santa with Roy Leonard' that runs 11:10.

Happy July 2011 Rudolph Day !!

Happy Rudolph Day & Merry Christmas in July!

Public Radio International ran a feature in 2009 explaining the soundtracks one hears while shopping during the Christmas season. Think those songs are chosen at random? Click and find out!

“Your Holiday Shopping Soundtracks” originally aired on PRI & WNYC’s program ‘The Takeaway’, a morning news program. The piece runs about six minutes and may be streamed or downloaded. Or, you can read about it at the link.

So close, so close :snowball:

Once September starts I am so ready to start preparing for the holiday season.

Happy Rudolph Day

Only One More Rudy Day for 2011 !!

Happy September and First (of only two) Autumn Rudolph Day!

Here's a neat segment from a show called "Here & Now" produced by public radio station WBUR in Boston. Bill Adler is Jewish but got into Christmas music in a big way when he married and started celebrating Christmas. He calls his annual compilations "Christmas Jollies".

The piece runs 11:12 and is also available as a download. Choose the fifth show down here.

If anyone locates the link mentioned in the show to hear the complete 2009 "Christmas Jollies" uninterrupted, please share here in the thread!

Music from the show

“The Christmas Song” – Nat King Cole
“It’s Winter Again” – Hal Kemp and His Orchestra with Skinny Ennis
“Christmas Comes But Once A Year” – Professor Grampy
“There Was A Star” – The Staple Singers
“Dig That Crazy Santa Claus” – Oscar McLollie and His Honey Jumpers
“I Want To Spend Christmas With You, Part 1″ – Lowell Fusion
“Howdy Doody Christmas” – Howdy Doody and Bob Smith
“Christmas Day” – Leadbelly
“I Want You For Christmas” -Mae Questel (The Betty Boop Girl)
“Christmas On TV” – Chris Isaak
“Waiting To See Santa Claus” – Cedryl Ballou
“Jingle Bells” – The Hoosier Hotshots
“Christmas In Hollis” – Run D.M.C.
“The Dreidel Song” – Sister Hazel “Silent Night” – Sahib Shihab Quartet

Kind of reminds me of Jon Solomon!
