It's a sunny morning. Lots to do today...laundry, groceries, cleaning.
Thanks for the good wishes for a good day at school. It was pretty good...no one took off in my grade, we had the first dog visit, so that was out of the way early. The danceathon was during specials and my specialist was there, so I didn't have to go, and the weather cooperated for recess. Winning day. I could use more of those. The kids love them too.
Have a great Saturday!
Good morning all! The weather has turned delightfully cooler. If only it could have been like this when I was wandering around the city yesterday!
Yesterday: I decided to let my hair go grey so I made an appointment with my DDIL's very expensive hair stylist (Bumble and Bumble) to see what had to be done. Turns out it is not easy to go grey if you've been coloring black for years. Basically you have to slowly lighten your hair and "lift" out the darker shades. So, after 3+ hours I am several shades lighter but no where near grey. She said the whole growing out process will take about a year. Next lightening will probably be in two months or so. If I can get a good picture I will post one.
Also yesterday had lunch with DS, walked from 34th and 7th Ave to 56th and Lexington - which is quite a away if you know Manhattan, and Met DH at Citifield for a Mets game at night.
Today: try to rest, do laundry, grill for dinner
Lisa - wishing you many more good days in school and out!
Lisa- I'm so glad that you had a great day yesterday where things went as they should!
Debbie- Wow, who knew it would be so hard and expensive! Lots of exercise for you yesterday. How was the game?
DD and I are up early and preparing to head to Sea Life Park this morning. She gets in free with Girl Scouts since she sold over 750 boxes of cookies. They will provide lunch for us, a BBQ I think. Once we're done there we'll head back and i'll head over to Eli's Crossover. I'm sure i'll miss the actual ceremony but they are doing fun stuff afterward.
I would like to get on my bike this weekend, so need to make that happen! DH is heading over the same direction we are this morning to take a boating test to get his license over at the Marine Corps base so we can rent a pontoon boat and take it out to the sand bar over there. Several people we know talk about it and how fun it is. It's a bit pricey so will only do it every once in a while or with friends so we can split the cost. I don't know anyone right now I would want to spend that much time with, except my friend that is moving here later this month. haha
Enjoy your day!
good afternoon to all. its only in the 70s75 feels much better than 92. enjoy while i can from wed on suppose to get hot again. work was kinda slow but was starting to pick up when i was leaving. going to see whats free on my nook to read this evening. enjoy your day
Good afternoon... was to be 16C with sun.. a spring day.. but nope! gray, very very windy and cold. so no outside work yet for me. DH had repaired ds's gaz cable on his car, put the summer tires on our truck and is working on the outside wood platform for the gazebo. I have visited Paris, picked up here and there, tidied up my armoire and put away the mittens & hats from the entry wardrobe to the one in the LR. Doing laundry.
Good afternoon. Nothing going on around here today. I'm trying to read my book, and dh is watching "Annie" with Albert Finney and Carol Burnett. I keep getting sucked into the movie - it is my favorite version. I'll do some embroidery in a bit, but I need to find some lunch - something besides the Peanut M&Ms I'm munching on.
Have a great day everyone!
I voted early this a.m. With MJ and her son. We went to lunch afterwards, but I had a late breakfast, and wasn't hungry, so just got coffee. I took her to Dollar General after that, but she was weak in her legs so stayed in the car. I did her shopping for her. Bless her heart. Then we picked up her mail and got gas. I took her home. She will probably not go to church tomorrow.
I, on the other hand, am going to my oldest son's and spend the night. I just need a change of scenery. I want to love on his dying fur baby. I will come back on Monday, maybe in time for Bible study. I have had too much stress lately, and am getting fried in my brain.
Got a blister on the back of my foot so had to go get band aids. I knocked a compact off its hanger and it hit my 2nd toe on my right foot. Same foot I have the blister on. I can't win today!
And on that happy note, I will just shut up. And wish you all a happy evening!
Another beautiful sunny day here and although it is fairly cool this morning I think that it will warm up. Still have not had heating on yet and that is almost unheard of in Canberra for this time of year.
Went to work yesterday and interviewed number 3. It is going to be hard to choose between her and 2. She has not done our type of work before but seems very clued in and hopefully will pick it up quickly. Boss will make a decision today I suppose. Both need to give their work places notice so I will still be pulling extras for at least another 3-4 weeks.
After work went to my mums to do some baking. Made a few slices and a caramel cheesecake. We wanted to try the cheesecake to see if it would be suitable for a Christmas dessert. Glad we tried it early as it is a fail. The filling is too loose and the caramel topping did not set and was too runny. A bit of a mess. LOL
Need to finish up a huge lot of housework and get ready for the new week. Hope that I can get it all done today, if not it will be waiting for me.
Evening all MHHers
The three days of having a yard sale are finished as of 2 this afternoon. Dh was up early again this morning. Me not so much. LC22 went to the bank for Dh who needed change for the sale when she arrived this morning at 8. She was excited to take my car. Dh and I were joking that she was taking so long because she must have scraped the car and was afraid to return. But no, she had gotten Caribou for all of us. Such a treat!
LC22 was roaring to go. She carried items to the garage, helped arrange things and kept an eye on DD. Then she said she would help me with the storage area if I wanted to look in the boxes that have been in the corner since we moved here. The first box I opened had newspaper with the date of May 6, 2006!!! So it was time to unload them. Most of them had ceramic barns, wooden barn bird houses or other horse/barn related items. I did find about 20 horse related Christmas ornaments. We took all the wooden barns out to the sale. About 15 or so. It was a big box. Just happened that a lady was there who decided to put them on the fence posts at her house. I think it will look really nice. Unpacking two boxes later I found another 8 but she was long gone. I weeded out the ceramic barns to 41. I still have to find places for 10 of them. The others are on the top of my kitchen cabinets. As I was unpacking LC22 organized the storage area by putting the boxes all around the walls so they are easy to grab. She also helped me wrap up the bed frame I have storage there. I'm going to see if any family members would like it. If not I'm thinking of selling it along with the dressers in my bedroom. My grandfather made these in the 50s.
No one bought the hope chest. One lady really wanted it but the back side was not maple. She wanted to use it as a coffee table. So now it is my coffee table because the painted back side does not bother me. I think if I had any art talent (which I do not) I would paint a scene of our house on it.
We even sold the wooden shelves we had for displaying items. Everything that didn't sell was boxed up and LC1 and LC22 took straight to GoodWill. I can't believe all the items we have decluttered. Feels great. My back is protesting but I'll take a hot bath and something for pain. It was well worth all the trouble.
Wishing all sweet dreams.
Diedra, sounds like a successful weekend, not only financially but decluttering wise. Well done.
Decluttering has come to a screaming halt here and will not start again until the extra work days have finished.
Trying to get a weeks worth of housework done in one day is not easy but I am pleased with what I have gotten done. Still a lot to do but am confident of getting it done today. DS is still in bed and DH is not too much help today.
My mom, DD25, and I went to Woodville, Mississippi today to let my mom look at tiny houses. She keeps saying when we move into the Crowville house that she is going to buy one and have it set up there on the back of the property. We ate lunch at a really popular local restaurant and stopped by the really small mall in Natchez. It was a good day.
Church tomorrow. I'll make lunch. Then, I need to go work on some stuff at school. Senior grades are due Monday afternoon. Thursday will be their last day in class.
Lisa, I'm glad you had a decent day at work. I suppose if you trained your mind to think of all those students being in your class every day, as if they belong to you, you could trick yourself into thinking it's normal. It happens so often, it almost is! Do you always have pretty much the same students from the other teachers' classrooms when they split classes?
Debbie, I'm trying to let my hair go grey, too. For a little over a year, I've been having heavy blond highlights, as well as low lights put in. Now, I'm just letting it grow in and the blond grow out. We can do it together!
Pam, poor MJ. She's blessed to have you to help her.
Diedra, the putting away after the sale is the part I hate! What a blessing to have LC22 there to help you. I bet she did enjoy the car!!
Katrina, prayers that you and Boss will pick the best candidate for the job. I'm joining you on some catch-up house work.
Lucie, that's funny...weren't there to take her job permanently! Hope you can get back to doing your normal responsibilities at work and won't have to keep helping the secretary.
Debbie, peanut M&Ms sound good to me, but you're right...not an appropriate lunch.
HW2, the weather is crazy. Hope you have some pleasant temperatures.
Jess, hope you found some time to ride today. Will y'all get any volcanic ash fallout from the eruption? I remember when Mount St.Helen's erupted, we go some all the way in Louisiana.
MissJane, your prayers are welcome. really need some stability at work. 2 mediocre CWs has taken its toll.
Sounds like you had a lovely day.
