Last year I picked up a couple of big bags of assorted candy at Sam's and plan to do the same this year. I tend to "break in" to the candy bags if I buy them too early however...ahem

:)

I am so glad that we do not celebrate Halloween. The temptation of the lollies would be entirely too much

As soon as Costco puts them out, I buy a bag each month for 2 or 3 months. I donate one to the city, I use one for Trunk or Treat at church and one for home. Whatever is left over goes to my hubby so I always buy the good stuff he likes.

I typically buy Halloween candy for the home candy dishes starting in mid-Sept. I'll typically get something that I like, but is not my favorite, so it will last longer. There's also a need for something autumn colored for the covered candy dishes (orange slices, candy corn, etc.). As for stuff for the trick-or treaters, I've been getting mini packs of pretzels or fruit snacks in recent years and will probably do the same this year and will get them before my trip (10/16). Aldi has had them in 30 packs, so will get one of each -- just in case. Never know how many we'll have -- could be 5 or 50.
