Both of the above meals sound delicious! And Frosty - you're cooking for SIXTEEN guests?!

I keep Christmas food as easy as possible:

Christmas Eve:
Most likely Chinese takeaway!

Christmas Day:
A variety of Indian starters - pakora, samosa, bhaji etc
Pilau/basmati rice
Naan bread
Various Indian curries, side dishes *yet to be decided*

Should be noted that I do NOT cook these from scratch! I went on strike from cooking at Christmas time many years ago when I realised I was spending the best part of 48hours in the kitchen to prepare one meal.

When my mom asked the kids what they wanted for Christmas dinner it was her homemade pizza. She decided that was easy to make and to clean up. So it was pizza. In the olden days they did not deliver pizza so you made it from scratch. My mom made the best thin crust pizza that was so nice and crispy.

I no longer wear myself out fixing Holiday dinners. Fifteen Years ago I cut my menu down a lot.

My menu now is:
Prime rib
Baked tiny potatoes with a french onion dip
Stuffed mushrooms
Salad
Pecan pie
Banoffee pie

If I feel like it, I will add other items:
Kale Salad with cranberries and pecans with French dressing
Bake corn pudding
Caramelized onions
Brussel Sprouts with bacon
Chocolate Covered Cherries

So far no one has complained about the reduced Holiday menus.

Still not sure about Christmas Eve or Christmas Day, who is hosting what. We typically join friends at their home on Christmas Eve. He is a wonderful home-taught chef and enjoys cooking for everyone and usually does a large multi-course plated dinner. Christmas morning, it's just me, so I'll bake some cinnamon rolls or I may try that cinnamon rolls in a Christmas tree cake mold I shared on the Holiday Menu page, along with cranberry orange juice and coffee. IF I host Christmas dinner, it will likely Include:

Appetizers
small meat & cheese tray w/ crackers
small veggie tray w/ dip
or perhaps a warm wrapped terriyaki steak appetizer w/ water chestnuts

Meal
relish tray
mixed green salad w/ either sliced pears, toasted walnuts, and gorgonzola (balsamic dressing) OR sliced apples, dried cranberries, and toasted pecans (sweeter vineagrette)
ham
scalloped potatoes
green bean casserole (per DSIL's request, whenever I host or take a dish to their home)
small corn casserole (family tradition on my side)
dinner rolls

Dessert
assorted Christmas cookies / breads
small apple tarts (depending on how many cookies and breads I still have on hand)

Hanukkah party meal always includes:

Assorted bagels and rye bread
Lox - nova (unsalted) and belly (salted)
White fish salad
Pickled herring in cream sauce
Latkes (potato pancakes) with sour cream and applesauce
Tuna salad
Egg salad

For dessert:
Banana pudding
Doughnuts - especially jelly doughnuts which are traditional

DH and DS make the latkes
DH makes the tuna salad
I make the egg salad and banana pudding

All the rest is purchased and decoratively arranged on the DR table

For Christmas dinner we have followed Whusky's example - sometimes we would go to a restaurant or sometimes order in.

Christmas Day has always been at a friend's house. They serve duck and goose and ham with stuffing and other sides. I usually bring a homemade dessert - pecan pie, yule log - and a side

I did this too. We have a ham on Christmas Eve with various buffet dishes and we snack on the leftovers on Christmas Day. So much more relaxing.

Reading everyone’s menus I’m hungry!
Christmas Eve Dinner here is the same every year:
Wine
Cheese ball
Shrimp cocktail
Chicken soup
Sarma( cabbage rolls)
Ham
Fried potato wedges
Some kind of green vegetable - salad, coleslaw
Cookies and strudel

Christmas breakfast
Cinnamon rolls

Christmas day
Leftovers

Anything that I can make ahead and freeze I do. Cookies, strudel, soup, cabbage rolls all come from the freezer. I make salad dressing, sauces etc a few days in advance. Husband peels potatoes for me. He decided years ago that Pillsbury cinnamon rolls are fine for Christmas morning because of all the details I attend to so I’m fine with that. I do anything I can to save time and energy so I can enjoy time with my family.
