Are you decluttering in July?

Since this is a hot month I'll be decluttering in the basement.

July 2nd: mp3 box in the recycling (no more warranty so no need to keep it), took out the cds that go with microphone & camera and will put them in the donation bag with them.

After 10 last night we started in sewing room. Going to move my shelves of material into the walk in closet so taking everything out of it--moving shelves around in it. Some Christmas items get stored in there too. Will wash the walls down in there and we will go thru stuff and move some stuff out. My material has pins in it to hold onto the comic boards to look like bolts of material and Teigan loves to pull the material off shelves. She will look at them and feel and say pretty, deer, bee. And now she is reaching for everything and she knows a drawer when seeing one so going to put all the sewing objects away. You tell her no she is normally pretty good at it....but we all know kids and they are fast. So July will be that room.

July is mostly Luke's room as it is school holidays and I need him here to do it with me. We just don't get time during school term as he is so busy with school, swim and other sports.
This will mean an easier week along the line when the House and Holidays plan starts as it will be de-cluttered.

July for me (maybe this weekend) I will pull out the Christmas totes, see what I have, get rid of things I no longer like or use and take photos at the finish.
July and August are fairly quiet time here so I would like to get a lot done in these 2 months.

I'm reading a book about decluttering, The life-changing Magic of Tidying Up: the Japanese are of decluttering and organizing. Haven't not read much except the introduction but any book helps a person get motived.

I tidied up the room that was used for my DrillDance teams equipment. I got rid of all the stuff belonging to them. The room looks much better. The room will always be the dumping ground in our house and I would like to get rid of a sofa bed and coffee table that is stored in there, but for now it is as good as it gets.

We hauled out our kitchen table, brought in the one DS gave us. The old table and two stored extensions went out along with four chairs. They are stored in the neighbors garage until the thrift place can pick it up. This cleared up some space in our storage area since we stored the extensions there.

I have at last 50+ pairs of sock to take to the thrift store if the LCs do not know anyone who would want them.

I moved out some old bath towels (was saving to use as batting but I have plenty of batting) and some old rugs. My older sister, Kim, is manager of the animal shelter and they can use them.

Will be bringing some magazines to the office coffee lounge tomorrow. Finally we ended up putting up the tent and it's really not a big hole so we will get it fixed, so the tent is not out of the house. but either way the kids still needed one.

Went through some paperwork too.

Finished sorting through DS's room. And started on some stuff of his that had somehow found its way to the lounge room- I think sometimes he spreads his stuff around!

Gave one towel to LC2 to a LC3's daughter. It had horses on it so when I was folding it I figured this young lady would love it more than I do now.

Took some stuff to Goodwill on Thursday night from the sewing room and a few things I had in a box. Have some more items for the animal shelter, and another box started in the sewing room for Goodwill. Sewing room is 3/4ths done (or alittle more). I want to find a small chest to keep in there for some clothes for Teigan. Feeling good to have it close to done!

Not working on anything in particular. Whenever I am tidying and see junk.....out it goes.

I have a pile of stuff that needs to go to the charity bin. It is sitting on the floor and by the door, I just need to pick it up and get it out.
