Hi,

I'm in charge of the children's games for the Family Reunion this year. Any suggestions for games for children ranging in age from 0-13?

Any ideas are appreciated.

You could always have the kids match names to baby pictures.

If it is an outside park or beach event, you could have a water balloon toss, or do the basics apple bobbing, and such.

For the little ones: peanut/candy scramble, ring toss, bean bag games, stomp the balloons, pinatas

Older ones: scavenger hunts, team games

Our two favorite team games are the egg on a spoon and clothing games. Same concept, but all ages like them. Line teams up and have an end point that the person has to get to and back.

Egg game- put egg on a spoon for each team(hardboiled, but they don't know it). Each person goes down and back and passes off the spoon annd egg.

Clothing game- get large men's button up shirts and pants and belt or suspenders. Add whatever else you want, maybe a hat or pull on boots to make a complete outfit. Have one outfit for each team. Split the teams in half putting half at one end of the playing area and the pther half at the other end. Start with the clothing at the other end from the person who goes first. The first person runs down, puts on all the clothing correctly (buttons all buttoned, zipper zipped, etc.) and then goes back to next person in line. Takes it all off and next person has to put it on correctly and then go to the other end and do the same thing. The key is to have the clothing big enough to be bothersome like the pants fall down while they're putting on a shirt. Even adults like this one.

We try to take along kick and soccer balls, a wiffle ball set, horseshoes and quoits, basketball or tennis stuff if there's a court, badmiton, tetherball etc. Anything that can be used for "free play" once oganized games are over.

We've also had crafts (Oriental Trading kits work well), face painting, coloring contests, cards for soldiers, checkers tournaments, and easy or picture bingo.

In front of my computer
Deck of cards
Photos of the people attending (one set of now photos and one set of baby photo for each person)
Glue

Glue a picture on each card. Each person needs two photos, a current one and a baby photo. You can use more than one deck of card if needed. If you know each person's occupation or their interests, you can get pictures of these to match..

People can match the cards during the reunion. Could be played like "Go Fish".

Put up a family tree chart and ask the families to fill in any missing people.

Take oil cloth and cut into placemat size. Have the kids draw a picture of the family and paint them to take home.

List interesting facts about all the people attending. Then have the kids try to find out which person goes with each fact.
example: Who makes pecan pie at Thanksgiving? Who is a fireman? Who worked at a newspaper office for their first job? Who is afraid of snakes? Who is your great grandmother? You could include some easy ones for the younger kids, who is wearing green sock?
