How about posting your tips here? big & small

Here's one I found:

Bundle up silverware in cloth napkins a few days in advance and then just place in a big basket... all ready to go to the table!

A few more (days before the reception):
•Fill salt & pepper shakers beforehand
•Camera film & batteries
•Ice for drinks or to place in cooler with cans of drinks
•Napkins & table linen ready

Decide on music playlist beforehand and place everything ready to start up.

Great thread! Let's see....... clean out your refrigerator WAY in advance -- like two weeks in advance! Use things up, throw things away, clean. (Freezer too.) Then -- there will be space for the party food!

Also.... if it is a big gathering.... ask friends who are coming, if you can store some drinks in THEIR refrigerator.... and they bring them... already chilled.... when they arrive. (Bottles of soda, water, fruit juices, wine, beer...... and drop them off at the friends house.... or 5 days in advance.

What a great thread this is. I am all for forward planning. Last week we made new place cards out of green/red card and some red spotted ribbon. They only took us 15 minutes or so, and when we get our completed Christmas gift list we will print names on to the cards.

I will be really keen to see what other time saving ideas people come up with.
