My apologies for the late post. I've been very busy this morning.

Woohoo! This is a free week for. Well sort of. I'm still working on that guest bedroom. If I can get those bags of laundry done, that room would look great.

So my goal for this week. GET ALL LAUNDRY DONE.

What will you do this week?

Hurray! A new week! I am so happy to end last week. Very little got done - due to the flu. I AM feeling better today. I KNOW the secret is to NOT overdo things. And that is so hard --- so I got behind on so any things!

So - no Kids Room for me! So this will be Master Bedroom Week for me.

And -- hopefully SOME Christmas Prep will get done!

Fluttering happily in the clouds!!
I have a reasonably easy week, as we did a good job on DD's room when we redecorated during the summer. So I am on catchup really (and even more now that we are not travelling for the weekend - although we do have a Christening on Sunday).

I will post my full list later, some of which are jobs I didn't get to already, but I am pleased with progress to date.

And even better news. We discussed the holiday plans over a family outing to the coffee shop after grocery shopping on Saturday - and have decided what we are doing. The dilemma was that we enjoy Christmas far more in our house, but felt guilty about denying DD a great birthday with all her aunts/uncles etc who are all where we grew up at that time.

So we are going to have Christmas Day in our own house, and enjoy cooking a turkey (but make sure we have an empty freezer!!). And on Stephen's morning, we will pack up the car and head "down home" for DD's birthday - which we will organise in the house of one set of grandparents!! Ideal - and decision made!!!!

Fluttering happily in the clouds!!
My list for this week. It looks scarily long, but lots are very small jobs, we are staying at home after all this weekend so should get cleaning done, and I am aiming for a day off during the week so I should actually make some progress on crafts for a change too!! I've broken it down a bit more than usual to see the wood from the trees.

Jobs from previous weeks:
[] Clean outside windows on ground floor
[] Dust (properly) living room and hall/stairs/landing
[] Dust living room blinds
[] Brush ceilings and behind pictures in both areas
[] Hoover to skirtings all rooms so far
[] Clean inside windows in all rooms
[] Dust and polish bedroom furniture
[] Clean and dust inside wardrobes master bedroom
[] Sort out bathroom cabinet
[] Empty out top of linen closet, sort, put linens rarely used into attic
[] Continue sorting through old baby things, and put equipment, toys, clothes no longer needed into collection for donation to family and/or charity (or dumping if no longer reuseable) – making good progress
[] File paperwork basket - insurances and my bank accounts are sorted into correct groups and date order ready for their (seperate) files, rest completed

Kids Room tasks:
[] Sort out bottom drawer of old lotions etc
[] Sort through toys chests for ones no longer used
[] Tidy “library” and reorganise
[] Hoover floor to skirting
[] Clean inside windows
[] Dust blinds, windowledge and chest of drawers
[] Get rid of old, spare hangers that are too small

Budget and paperwork jobs:
[] Update budget spreadsheet
[] Update Christmas gift list and Christmas budget
[] Start Cards database - well, at least I've filled them in to my notebook
[] Get the few addresses I need from MIL and Mum, and check on new additions to cousin's families
[] Write 10 cards
[] BUY new cards - need about 20
[] Remind DH about making cards for couple of special folks (using photo of DD) - HIS project
[x] Buy wrapping paper for kids presents
[] Buy wrapping paper for grownups presents
[] Ring the man about car repairs (scratched paintwork compensation)
[] Ring dentist for 6 monthly checkups for all family
[] Arrange flu jab for me

Crafts aims:
[] Rip back and reknit (correctly) sleeve for cardigan for Baby boy (friend's baby)
[] Sew in tails on 8 facecloths already knit
[] Sew in tails on DD scarf (already knit)
[x] Make progress on DH's scarf (work lunchtimes project, and commutes when I take the right bag)
[] Sew 2 totes
[] Sew 1 baby fleece blanket
[] Start dollie clothes

Shopping tasks:
[] Look for fabrics for bedroom curtains and headboard - still looking, reckon this is a "post-Christmas" project at this stage
[] Look for fabric for bathroom blind (another “post Christmas” project?)
[] Look for new towels to go with new bathroom colour scheme
[x] Buy C batteries
[] Buy vests and pyjamas for DD
[] Look for nice pair trousers for DD
[x] Buy vest and pyjamas for me

Kitchen and veggie garden tasks:
[x] Organise meals for week - using freezer stocks
[x] Put some fresh meals in freezer – 1x1pers, 1x3pers portions broccoli
[] Use up courgettes
[] Cover pumpkins on allotment with fleece as first frosts are due

I'm sort of ahead this week as DS21 and DD16 refuse to let me into their rooms to clean. So they can do it themselves LOL. I will use this week to catch up on a few things that I want to do.

Today was really busy and I do not think I will work in the room of the week at all. (Master Bedroom for me.) But yesterday - I got the floor totally cleared between the bed and the dresser. My husband walked in and said, "It's a miracle!" We were both very happy to have that area cleared out!

This is Sunroom week for me...and I can say that I have walked through it, looked at it and then hurried on to other tasks...

{sigh}

Canning kicked my rear end last night and I have one more batch to do tonight - so HGP'ing is going to have to wait until the end of the week this week...

I have been going through the kids closets and dressers...finally swtiching over to fall/winter clothing and packing up the rest. Dropped off 4 bags to the Purple Heart - mostly coats/sweaters that don't fit.

I changed out all of the bedding/curtains as well. The rest of their rooms are pretty good...DS4 needs to have his closet "rebuilt" - the shelf and bar are both sagging from age (even when there's nothing on them!). I doubt I'll be able to do this before Christmas, but it's on the list.

Arkansas-Go Razorbacks! Whoo Pig Sooie!
I have dreaded this room from the beginning. My biggest problem with the little boys' room is the fact that I tore out their closet and it's still not completely finished. I am hoping to get that done this week if nothing else. We desperately need to patch walls (what is it with little boys and putting holes in the walls? Lots and lots of little holes...)and paint again, but time and the budget simply will not allow for that right now. So..we'll make the best of it and move on. Jacob's room is his responsibility..I'm out on that one.

There's still plenty to do in the rest of the house. Gotta get crackin!!

I am not getting very far this week after all. And it now looks like my day off won't materialise. But I have the weekend and I will get the worst of things done. And then I will knock off other tasks that are not essential until there is a week that is not hectic (um, I am SURE there will be at least one?! LOL!).

The good news is that the actual kids room is not too bad!!

Thursday! Have you had time to work in your Room of the Week?

This week, I HAVE had several opportunities for the room (Master Bedroom for me). And I hope to get in there for a while today. Among "real life" events, of course!

Well, to sum things up:

Finally finished the upstairs bathroom HGP tasks!

Will spend this week on the Sunroon and the Guest Bedroom!

Been doing lots of other things - switching out the closets, drawers for cold weather items, canning and freezing apples, etc.

I do feel that I am making progress - just lagging a little behind the curve this year - but that is ALL-right! I just don't want to give up! :)
