Oh, make pecan logs! Or spiced nuts. I had some sugared pecans one time that were delicious. Chop some finely for Russian Teacakes. Try them in any recipe that calls for nuts, or just toast them and eat them! I love pecans, and they can eat a chunk out of my baking budget.

Do paper shell pecans taste different than regular, hard shell pecans?

Send them to me! Around here a pound of pecans sells for $8.99.

Crock Pot Candied Pecans

16 oz pecan halves
½ cup melted butter
½ cup powdered sugar
1 ½ teaspoon cinnamon
¼ teaspoon ginger
¼ teaspoon allspice

Stir the pecans and butter in a crock-pot until combined. Add powder sugar and cook UNCOVERED for about 2 hours or until the nuts are covered with a crisp glaze.

Transfer to a bowl and sprinkle with spices evenly.

I love pecans, but they are so expensive. I love putting them in butter tarts. Omit the raisins and use pecans instead. Yummy!!

That sounds so good. I love pecans...they are great just by themselves, in my opinion. I also second the dipped in chocolate idea...maybe with some melted caramels.....now I need to go find some pecans!

Here's a recipe I found today in my Gooseberry Patch Christmas Cookbook. I haven't tried it, but it sounds good!

Spiced Pecans
1 c. sugar
2 t. cinnamon
1 t. salt, un
1/2 t. nutmeg
1/4 t. ground cloves
1/4 c. water
3 c. pecan halves, toasted

Combine sugar, cinnamon, salt, nutmeg, cloves and water in a small saucepan. Cook over medium-low heat, stirring constantly until sugar dissolves. Cook 9 more minutes on medium-low or until a candy thermometer registers 236 degrees (soft ball stage). Do not stir. Place pecans n a large bowl; pour hot mixture over pecans. Stir until they start to lose their gloss. Spread pecans on wax paper and separate quickly with a fork. Cool completely. Store in an airtight container. Makes 3 cups.
