Welcome to the 1st week of the Crafters Challenge for 2013!!!!!

Looks like we have several who would like to get an earlier start on crafts for Christmas and just to have ready before NEEDED!

I have purchased fabric for several diffferent projects on Friday and yesterday. Have a few projects that I didn't fabric for. Went to Jackmans and was looking at machines. I know I have been talking about it forever. Finally decided to go with a babylock but I have to really decide which one and then get a couple things paid before I purchase. When I ever buy I will give Jaymee my Viking Rose embroidering/sewing machine.

I have a list started for 2013 but will be adding to it. Here it is at the present. Some are carried over from last year! :(

Craft List to make for 2013:

( ) Jaymee a stocking with wine material (Christmas)

( ) Jaymee an apron with wine material

( ) 3 thread catchers (2 for Christmas gifts or maybe one b'day or Mothers Day and one for myself)

( ) 2 themed pillow cases

( ) 2 infinity scarfs
All the items with 2 are for nieces b'days in Feb. & April
( ) 2 ruffle skirts

( ) 2 kleenex holders

( ) fleece tie blanket Nephews b'day in Sept.

( ) start more vanilla --- beans ordered on 1-5

( ) decide on item for HGTV 12 days of Christmas

( ) decide on item for CIJ ornament swap here

( ) decide on ornament for another swap
If I join these 2
( ) decide on item for Jill's 12 Days of Christmas

( ) 1600" (will be bigger for a king size) quilt for nephews 30th b'day in April

( ) 1600" (not sure size but with either Q or K) for a friends 50th b'day in May

( ) need a few more change out covers for our weight thingy at work drive up window. Last year something took our Christmas one.

( ) still have barbie clothes I would like to do

( ) scrappy pot holders

( ) Christmas pillows

( ) choose ornaments to make for family/friends

( ) Unfinished projects for myself

This is the items I can think of now but I will be adding to it I am sure.

This week I will be working on the 2 infinity scarfs and maybe a pillow case. The scarfs I am using throws that I got after Christmas for $2.88 in their favorite colors and will be able to get a few from them. The pillow cases one I got all the material and the other I got some but might change out the top if I find banana material.

What are your plans for 2013 or this week?

I plan to make some dry erase boards (I got the board material free, it was scraps in the shop at my work). Getting the wood is a little trickier. The original project was made with 5 gallon paint stir sticks. My work doesn't have them so I have to get them from Lowes. They will only hand out 5 at a time. I can get the paint from my work & will make them throughout the year.

I have started making my list of things I want to do but I'm sure I'll add to it as I go along.

1. Paint ornaments for boys, Molly, Natalie, Emily, Ben and Ava

2. Paint an ornament for others if time

3. Make Christmas pillows for guest rooms (have the material but my friend will have to sew them)

4. Make yarn wreaths...not sure how many yet

5. Make vanilla again this year. I gave away a lot of vanilla this past Christmas.

6. Make homemade sugar scrub for gifts for the aunts

7. Determine what my swap ornament will be.

I know there will be more but this is more than enough to get me started.

I love looking at everyone's lists and watching the progress thru the year as you check them off!

I saw a head band at a booth at a farmer's market a couple of weeks ago while we were out of town. I came home and designed my own. The one at the farmer's market was very simple at totally not worth the $ she was charging, but nonetheless, gave me an idea for a new project.

I posted it on my blog. Headband

Thank you for looking everyone! And thank you for your nice comments!!

Yesterday, I cut out and pressed 48 of them, and since they are reversible, that means 96 pieces. My hands are feeling it this morning. I hope to get the monogramming part finished over the next couple of days. I ordered elastic yesterday, so I'm hoping that will come by the time I'm ready to assemble them.

It is time to get focused..... (talking to myself :))

--This week I want to finish the tops of the doll quilts.
--I also want to finish the blankets from last year. Gotta get them in the mail soon!!!
**Finished a skirt. Huge accomplishment.

I need to finalize my yearly plan for crafting... other wise I will be all over the place and get nothing done... again.

Ruffled handbag for myself,
Ruffled tea towels for gifts,
Lengthen bedroom curtains,

That is about it for the moment,

I'm still working on head bands. They are taking forever! Not to mention, one of my sewing machines is giving me headaches, I think it needs a trip to the shop next week. Something is wrong with the tension, I think.

Oh ...

And I see the making of vanilla on here .... I just heard a friend talk about hers. So, she uses vodka? How do you all make yours?

Just wondering. Sounded so yummy. Then this friend makes vanilla sugar and sprinkles it over biscuits!

The infinity scarf is a piece of fleece about 58" long and 9" wide (for warmth can be wider) and you make a circle with it and loop it over your head--like twice.

My receivers like their vanilla. This year I put the vanilla beans from the vanilla into a container with about 5 lbs of sugar and will let it sit. Maybe like 25 beans. Will see how it turns out.

I have used vodka always. Some use brandy I have read.

Ah! Sounds yummy. Thanks. The scarf sounds nice about now ...it's cold in FL! LOL
