WEEK 4 is upon us! Time to give some thought to the Master Bedroom! Here is the link to the official Holiday Grand Plan post with a great run down on how to approach cleaning that space.

https://holidaygrandplan.com/master-bedroom-week/

Here are few other thoughts/links that pertain to bedrooms or just cleaning in general:

The First Rule of Cleaning! Any room, any space! TOP DOWN!!! Look up, buttercup! Start with dusting the cobwebs out of ceiling corners, dusting high wall air vents and dealing with the ceiling light fixture or fan.

TIP: For dusting ceiling fan but not getting that gunk flying all over your bed, etc. use an old pillow case! Put it over each fan blade in turn and gently press the case to the blade while pulling it backwards and off. Repeat for each blade. This gets the worst of it and you can finish it off with your normal choice of duster. I swear by Swiffer personally. When done take the dirty pillow case outside, turn inside out and shake it like a polaroid picture!

Holiday Prep

  • Make one batch of Holiday Goodies.
  • Make one extra meal for freezer again labeled HOLIDAY MEAL.
  • Buy two canned food items from menus (get 2 of each item, one to use and one to donate to food drive).
  • Buy 1/8th of TO BUY gifts. Save all receipts, note return policy before buying. Ask for gift boxes
  • Wrap and label packages. If needing to ship, get some shipping boxes now and store packages in them.
  • Work at least 1 hour a day on homemade gifts.
  • Make list of any table and bathroom linens that need replacing before the holidays, and pick up a few each week.

Are you working on something other than the Master Bedroom this week? Share your plans and progress either way!

Remember! Life is going to throw curveballs! Just keep trying! Every task accomplished, however small, is something that wouldn't have been done otherwise! Chip away at your list the best you can!

Happy HGP'ing to all! And to all a good week!!! ;)

For Master / Primary Bedroom week, I have a huge list for this week, and I've got a lot of other things on my plate, too. So, I'm going to need to be smart in how I schedule things, if it's going to get done. Here we go --
  • dust ceiling worners and angles above ceiling fan
  • dust ceiling and high wall vents, as well as the vent over the doorway
  • dust ceiling fan and wash light fixtures
  • rotate mattress
  • launder mattress pad
  • launder comforter and shams
  • launder dog bed
  • dust artwork
  • dust all furniture
  • polish mirror
  • wipe down nightstand lights and shades
  • wash windows and bilnds
  • clean and organize dresser drawers; weed for donation [DONE: drawers with underware, socks, night clothes; still need to do those with casual shirts, shorts, and work-out-type clothes]
  • clean and organize nightstand drawers
  • wash lights in closets
  • clean and organize master closet; weed for donation
  • clean and organize 2nd master closet (used for linens and other storage)
  • clean TV mounting hardware and TV itself
  • wipe down baseboards [did these when I installed new carpet in the Spring, so I'm going to let this slide until the winter]
  • thorough vacuum all carpeted areas

Other things to do / check
  • change wax melts in bedroom
  • check holiday clothing
  • check kleenex supply for winter
  • schedule furnace tune-up (carried over from last week)
  • schedule office carpet cleaning (carried over from last week)

Meetings, etc. to schedule around
  • Book club (Tues. luncheon followed by discussion; need to make baked beans)
  • Bible study (Weds. mid-day)
  • Bloodwork (Thurs. AM)
  • Pressure canning webinar (Thurs. PM)
  • Widows group monthly dinner (Thurs. PM)
  • Rescheduled Pressure Canning webinar (Fri. PM)

Week 4?! We are moving along!
My master bedroom is done so i have other things on my agenda.
Defrost small freezer in garage- did that this morning. Will reorganize both freezers tomorrow and take stock.
Apples- Will mix up dough either today or tomorrow (depends on what my back says) for apple strudel for holidays. Will set up to make apple sauce for next week.
Shopping list- I have lost my master list. I bet I pitched it at some point thinking it was trash. So I’ll create another list for restocking so I can do a separate restocking shopping trip this week.
Gift shopping- Have a short list of things to order for my son.

I actually tackled my bedroom last week. It takes me several days to do as it is quite a big room, I also include my walk in wardrobe and gift closet.
We had one quilt cover that was not working for us, the doona kept moving around in it and making it lumpy. I bought a new quilt set. I said to DH that we spend a lot of time in that bed we deserve to be comfy.
Glad it is done, now will add to planner to maintain completed rooms over the next few weeks.

In front of my computer
Bedroom light fixture needs to be taken down and cleaned. Everything else is cleaned including sort clothes from the dressers and they were cleaned when I packed for the new carpet. Have not washed the curtains but that will be done when they put in new windows next month.

This week will be my Front Porch week. I still have fall decorating to so will get to that too. Will have DS's dog on Monday and Tuesday so will be a good time to be outside with him. Will be cool but I will make it work.

Isn't that the truth!?! :D

we deserve to be comfy
Very true!!!
Apples- Will mix up dough either today or tomorrow (depends on what my back says) for apple strudel for holidays.
Do you freeze the strudel?

new windows next month.
That is exciting!!! Windows can make such an impact!

Finished the fall decorating.
Always a nice feeling to get that done! I love driving up to the house and seeing the Fall touches on our porch!

I was able to knock out some of the to do items on my list this weekend. Mainly dusting bedroom ceiling corners, wall vent, TV and fan.

Stripped bed including mattress cover and washed everything before remaking. Changed blankets on dog beds.

Windows are done in that room too.

Cleaning/prepping camper, errands and normal housework took the rest of my time. Hoping to chip away at the HGP list weeknights as possible this week.

Trying to work on strudel today. For what ever reason having dough issues. I actually went to the mini mart and bought another bag of flour. The first one I pulled was just ok, the rest I ended up pitching, such a mess, it shredded. You can see the thick parts in the photo of the first one. I could not chase that out for some reason. I’ve remixed and we are both resting will try again. I’m really missing my mom and grandma. And yes it freezes very well!
