I have a question about freezing nuts. I've heard this extends the life of them, but is that once the package is open? Or should I freeze them unopened.

I put nuts in a tupperware (once the bag is opened) and take out only as much as I need each time.

I have done this for years with all different types of nuts without any problems. Towards the end of the year I buy several packages when they are on sale. I just drop these into the freezer without repackaging. Once open I put them in Ziploc bags. They keep for many months.

I put nuts in Ziploc bags in the freezer as well and just take out the amount I need. If I'm thinking about it ahead of time, I will take them out and toast them because the flavour is better toasted. I have used them right out of the freezer as well.
