in fact his sisters left the rest to be put in the garbage but dh doesn't want it all to go in the garbage. He is not quite a laidback kind of guy but he was raised in not buying for nothing, use up what you have. His parents were not rich and you did not throw away.

This morning I went in the basement and threw out 3 boxes, empty tape cassette cases, 2 small wooden I was keeping for crafts (which I will never do), a cat litter box door (?!) and dropped off stuff at the thrift store (they reopened last week). I added 4 puzzles, 1 binder and 2 tape cassettes to what I already had for the thrift store.. Then I did a visual declutter of my office billboard (got the paintings put away and threw out some papers that were hanging there).

I went through my women's group stuff and got rid of previous years program books.
They are specific to that particular year so why was I hanging on to them?
Found some Christmas gift bags that were ripped or too crinkly so they got thrown out.

Also took a bag of books to the friends of the library bookstore.
A lot of evenings I am just too wiped out to do any organizing/decluttering. I don't know what the answers are for a schedule.

Slowly but surely.

Lucie and Jody- My entire home office is filled with stuff from my parent's house.
I also have some totes from my Grandmother and Great Aunt- but that stuff is at least contained and labeled.
I'm ready to really pare it all down....
But I haven't been able to come up with a schedule I can stick with.
My plan was 30 minutes an evening 4 times a week but after being gone from home 11-12 hours, I'm too whooped.
Maybe the 15 minutes that Mary is doing is more do-able?

Annie, it is a tough challenge to find time after working, I am certainly too tired after work to do much. Maybe an hour on a Saturday when you are fresh and before you head out for the weekend may be more useful.

I also have been bringing stuff into my house from my 2 great aunts. Did go to the storage unit tonight and Jaymee took stuff out for rummage sale and she wants to go back tomorrow and look after work for more to move out. :) Would love to get rid of the storage unit. We have some stuff in it too.

Started tackling the foyer yesterday. We have a huge cabinet that holds the printer, notebooks and other office supplies. I had been stashing the piles of mail that I have not weeded through in a while in there and it was nice to get rid a lot of that stuff. I need to work on it more this week as I want that area decluttered and cleaned by the weekend.

Went through a tote of girl's clothing with ddil yesterday. she took about 1/3. Have a few pieces to give to the thrift store and will go through the rest once more to see what I keep for when Anne-Elizabeth comes over to play. She also took 3 pairs of knitted slippers, will give away the rest but keep 1 pair of shoes for Anne-Eli next year and 1 pair of dd's baby shoes as a souvenir.
Got my son to go through one of the small bins I had with lots of cords and plugs in it. At least 20 of them ended up in recycling.
DH is going through his garage and under the patio today, hoping some stuff gets taking out of here

Went through my drawers. Donated a pair of new socks that are too tight, and a few tee shirts. I had so many tee shirts and hardly wear them except for Winter under sloppy joes.

Dh is decluttering stepmothers house. Which means it is all coming here. He came home with over ten boxes of paintings With several paintings in each box. She is a very talented painter. She even has a stamp that her friend had carved with her name. Not sure which way the name goes. The little turtle is cool with the man carved on the bottom. Will try to get Dh to ask her to explain when he goes over there tomorrow.

Lucie,
Be careful with the stuff from MIL's house. That's how I ended up with my home office filled..............

I've committed to tonight, Weds, and Thurs- 30 minutes each evening- to work on de-cluttering.
I have to report here the next day as my accountability.

I have taken pictures of games, stuffed animals and shoes (dd's) and sent them to the kids to see what they want. waiting for ddil on the games. dd says she wants nothing.

So in the donation bag for the thrift store, I have added 2 board games, 4 puzzles, 1 laboratory overcoat, a box of crafting to make candles (if dd doesn't want these I will go over it and see what gets tossed), 1 tissue box cover I had made when dd was little with plastic canvas ,
For dniece: 1 pair of shoes and 1 pair of slippers from dd, 1 fancy vest, 1 over-the-door princess hanger, 1 3d puzzle

I did my 30 minutes last night.
I went through magazines.
I have a huge problem with magazines!!!!

I wanted to dig into my laundry/storage room- as I feel the shelving in there would be a good place for some of my parents belongings- but I may have company this weekend and pulling stuff out of the laundry room would mean making a mess in the house so I decided to wait until after this weekend to tackle that.

I plan on another 30 minutes tonight.

Annie
