Do you have a "go to" recipe for gifts in a jar or do you have a special food gift that you like to make and deliver during the holiday season? This is the week for sharing it! Please post recipes for food gifts and then after trying them we will rate and review....

Texas Two-Step in a Jar

1 6 ounce package brown gravy mix
2 tablespoons mild chili powder (or your choice)
2 teaspoons dried oregano
1 teasppon cumin
1 teaspoon dried, minced onion
1 teaspoon garlic salt
10 to 12 tortilla chips, coarsely crushed
1 1/4 cups pasta wheels, uncooked

Pour gravy mix into a one-pint, wide mouth jar. In a small bowl, combine chili powder, oregano, cumin, onion and garlic salt; pour on top of gravy mix. Add tortilla chips and pasta to fill jar. Secure lid.

Attach instructions to the jar.

Brown 1/2 pound ground beef in a large saucepan. Add jar contents and 7 cups of water, bring to a boil. Stir in a 15 ounce can corn and 16 ounce can chopped tomatoes. Reduce heat, cover and simmer for 20-25 mintes until pasta in tender. Garnish with tortilla chips and shredded Monterey Jack cheese.
Serves 8.


I have given the corn and tomatoes with it.

Apple Dapple Muffin Mix

2 cup self-rising flour
1/2 cup sugar
1/4 cup brown sugar, packed
2 tsp. cinnamon
1/4 tsp. nutmeg
1 cup dried apple, chopped

Combine ingredients together; place in an airtight container. Attach instructions. Makes 4 cups.

Instructions:
In a large mixing bowl, comine mix, one egg, 3/4 cup milk and 1/4 cup oil; stir until just moistened. Fill greased muffin tins 3/4 full. Bake at 400 degrees until golden, about 15 to 18 minutes. Makes 12.

Wrap a bag of Apple Dapple Muffin Mix in red cellophane, tie it up with green ribbon and add a leaf-shaped gift tag. Great gift.

Incredible Cobbler Mix

1 teaspoon baking powder
1 cup sugar
1 teaspoon vanilla powder
1 cup all purpose flour

Mix ingredient together until well blended, store in an airtight container.

Instructions:
Blend together 4 cups berries, 1/4 cup orange juice, 1/4 cup sugar and one teaspoon cinnamon. Pour into a 13 X 9 baking pan. Combine one cup melted butter and one egg in a seperate mixing bowl, add dry cobbler mix, stirring well. Drop cobbler mixture by tablespoons over berry mixture. Bake at 375 for 30-40 minutes or until olden. Makes 12 servings.

Christmas Cappuccino Mix

2 1/2 cups instant chocolate drink mix
8 cups powdered milk
2 cups powdered sugar
1 cup instant coffee granules
8 ounce jar French Vanilla flavored non-dairy creamer

Combine all ingredients in a large bowl, then store in an airtight container until ready to use.

Instructions:
Combine 1/4 to 1/3 cup cappuccino mix with one cup hot water, stir to blend. Makes 1 serving.

Spiced Cider Mix
3/4 cup brown sugar, packed
2 teaspoons cinnamon
1 teaspoon ground cloves
1/2 teaspoon orange zest
1 teaspoon allspice
1/2 teaspoon numeg

Combine ingredients and store in an airtight container.

Instructions:
Combine 1/4 cup mix with one cup apple juice and 1/4 cup water. Bring t a boil over medium heat. Reduce heat and simmer for 5 minutes. Makes one serving.

Wild West Steak Rub

2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
2 teaspoons salt
5 tablespoons pepper
4 teaspoons garlic powder
4 teaspoons onion powder
1 teaspoon paprika
1 teaspoon beef bouillon granules
1/2 teaspoon dried oregano

Mix all ingredients together. Store in a plastic zipping bag or airtight container. Makes about 1/2 cup.

Instructions:

Sprinkle desired amount over steaks, refrigerate steaks for at least 4 hours to allow the flavors to blend completely. Grill steaks to desired doneness.

Snickerdoodle Coffee Mix

1 cup powdered milk

1/2 teaspoon allspice
1/4 teaspoon cinnamon

Potato Soup Mix

1 3/4 cups instant mashed potatoes
1 1/2 cups dry milk
2 tbsp. instant chicken bullion
2 tsp. dried minced onion
1 tsp. dried parsley
1/4 tsp. ground white pepper
1/4 tsp. dried thyme
1/8 tsp. turmeric
1-1/2 tsp. seasoning salt

Combine all ingredients in a bowl and mix. Place in 1 quart canning jars to store.

Makes 6 servings.

Instructions to attach to jar:
To Serve: place 1/2 cup mix in soup bowl and add 1 cup boiling water. Stir until smooth.
