Santa's Elves
For traditional I would pick Frank Sinatra, "Have yourself a Merry Little Christmas"

For Modern, "My Grown up Christmas Wish" by Natilie Cole.

I like that you can feel the meaning through the music....They are Christmas to me!

yep!!!

t's Christmastime
There's no need to be afraid
At Christmastime, we let in light and we banish shade
And in our world of plenty we can spread a smile of joy
Throw your arms around the world at Christmastime

But say a prayer

Pray for the other ones
At Christmastime it's hard, but when you're having fun
There's a world outside your window
And it's a world of dread and fear
Where the only water flowing is the bitter sting of tears
And the Christmas bells that ring there are the clanging
chimes of doom
Well tonight thank God it's them instead of you

And there won't be snow in Africa this Christmastime
The greatest gift they'll get this year is life
(Oooh) Where nothing ever grows
No rain nor rivers flow
Do they know it's Christmastime at all?

(Here's to you) raise a glass for everyone
(Here's to them) underneath that burning sun
Do they know it's Christmastime at all?

Feed the world
Feed the world

Feed the world

Let them know it's Christmastime again

Feed the world
Let them know it's Christmastime again

"The Christmas Song" but it must be sung by Nat King Cole

When I hear it, it stops me in my tracks. I stop and am completly in the moment.

That one is good, but the one by Martina McBride is even better...though the one on the "Charlie Brown Christmas" soundtrack is OK.

(And I mention the one from the Charlie Brown Christmas soundtrack because of your avatar)

gameshowguy2000- I have never heard Martina McBrides version, I will have to check it out. I do like her- even saw her in concert.

I also like The Carpentar's version of "The Christmas Song." That CD is probably my FAVORITE Christmas CD! I will listen to it well into January.

The Peanuts Christmas soundtrack is another fave. Mine is the one where all the songs are by Vince Giraldi (not sure of the spelling).

They have been my avatar all of 2009- I change it to fit the month and/or holiday.

I think it called "do they know its Christmas time" the one done by the British pop rockers in the 80's for liveaid. Yes I'm dating myself! lol

"Band Aid - Do They Know It's Christmas?" by Midge Ure and Sir Bob Geldof
- Its one of my most favourites due to all of the memories attached (my last year of school!) and my kids are embarassed by Mum singing at the top of her voice everytime it's on! (Still word perfect! Lol!)

As for "proper" carols - probably In the Bleak Midwinter when played by Brass Band, although a Salvation Army Band rendition of Silent Night will always make me cry too!

AM (in a very cold southern England, hankering for the Northern Brass Banding Christmas' of her childhood!)
