It's time ladies (and gentlemen)....Today kicks off the Holiday Grand Plan with List Week.

Remember that this week has a two fold purpose...lists AND it is also cleaning the Front Porch.

I only have a small front porch so I'll use it to also work a bit on the front flowerbeds...they need some weeding and prepping for fall.. :)

The Theme here at MHH for September is Baking Month so for holiday prep this week I will also sort out my baking plans....last year I made WAY too much but it is so hard to just pick a few things.

Typically we bake the most the 7-10 days right before Christmas BUT my daughters and I have been talking about starting right after Thanksgiving. Perhaps with a batch a week. Keepeing some out to enjoy and freezing a few for cookie trays during Christmas. IDK....we will see.

Here's the link to Week One info at Organized Christmas:

Very excited to be officially starting the Holiday Season. YaY, Holiday Grand Plan.

My front porch is tiny but shall be cleaning it ready to put up my autumn wreath. Front garden could use some attention too but that will depend on the weather. Lists I can do:) Making lists is one of my favourite occupations!

Since moving just a month ago, I'm so excited to start HGP. Most everything was dejunked during the move, so I'm going to focus on making this new place real homey.

The front porch is small, so there is not much to do there. I just need to clean off the front door and trim up the hedges which are small. The front landscaping does need a lot of work, but that is going to take a lot of time. I live in TX, so I'm going to wait until it gets a little cooler for the heavy duty work.

My mini flag stand is empty, so I'm going to purchase a new fall flag.

The menu for Christmas is complete along with the long-term shopping list. I'm also going to do the same for Halloween, Thanksgiving and New Years. I have to talk with DH, but there may be a possible open house.

• Master Gift List: Done
• Christmas Card List: Done
• Gift Ideas Planner: Done
• Favorite Meals for Freezing: I've never done this before. I think I'm going to look through my Super Suppers cookbook and maybe make 3 recipes for each month. I'll throw in a crockpot supper for once a week to make life easier.

Ellen - Praying Isaac can see that you are doing the HGP and don't have time for him and will stay far away!

I'm so excited about this!!! I use the front porch week to work on everything in my front yard. Since we just moved in, it's going to be fairly easy I hope. I am going to repaint the trim around the front door as it was banged up during the moving. I'm ready this year!

I'm ready! Although I no longer have a front porch I want to make sure my front doors and windows are clean and I want to buy a new Welcome Mat! I'll take care of the doors and windows once Isaac passes through!

Holiday Planning:
• Master Gift List: Done
• Christmas Card List: Done
• Gift Ideas List: In Process

I've never done freezer meals before, but now that we are both working again, we are planning our meals out ahead of time, so hopefully that will help during holiday time.

Note to self: Need to buy more rolls for our Food Saver!

I Love list week :)

Ready to start and looking forward to getting ready for the holidays (please let there be lots of snow this year!)

My front porch is needing more work - it keeps getting bumped off the priority list as other repairs and renovations take over. It will take us longer than a week to complete - but we are REALLY hoping this will be the last year it is on the 'to do' list!

I worked a lot on this project last year, but the early cool weather and rains stopped progress. We need to fix the few areas that did not 'take' due to rain, add a railing and new mailbox, put down a new cement walkway for the stairs, new coach light, add the siding and paint, finish the window project and repair the flooring, plus add a new door!

We are using an assortment of 'old' furniture for this front enclosed porch, and I will need to sew curtains - using older curtains cut down to cafe size...

After the front siding and skirting are complete - I can look after my SAD looking hosta bed (lost a tree in the storms last year and they are not doing well without the extra shade). Planting of a new tree is not 'on the list' till spring!

Im working on getting the lists in a calendar and mini notebook to keep in my purse. I sprayed down the porch earlier but need to take a broom to it, spray for spiders, and some work in the bed area.
I put 3 freezer meals up so I'm ahead of the game there.

I already had all my master list done for my planner, so I spent the evening making a checklist for the next 4 weeks. It has the complete list of cleaning areas I need for each room. I also added a Honey Do List for the Hubs, A Decorating Want List for me. Those are things I'd like to do if time and money allows. I think I'm Set.

I started printing everything out yesterday and ran out of ink, lol. Always forget something. At least I got this week printed. Once I pick that up I can print the rest and get my notebook in order.

Going to start tackling my lists tomorrow, the Christmas card list will be especially hard. We have never sent out cards so I have almost no addresses, tracking that info down should be super fun.

[]Christmas card list
[x]One starter item for the freezer (something like taco meat, spaghetti sauce, etc.)
[]One batch of cookie dough for the freezer
[]Plan handmade gifts out and divide supplies out to start buying
[x]Pressure wash front porch
[x]Scrub down chairs and table on front porch
[x]Pressure wash front of house

There are other things I would like to get done but that is the must do list.

Fluttering happily in the clouds!!
It's started!! Yay!!

This week, I want to get the rest of the garden cleared and sorted for winter, and the front door area cleaned too. I usually try to clean my outside windows this week too before winter really sets in, and they need it badly again this week (DH power hosed the back last week so there's sand everywhere). I am not baking or filling the freezer yet, as I am still clearing it out (it was overfull after holidays), but I am making progress on using up stuff so that I can start afresh.

I haven't made great progress on my lists yet, but I have started them, and I should get some quiet evenings this week and next to really get them nailed.

[] Wash outdoor windows
[] Brush front door area
[] Empty window boxes that have finished
[x] Put away sun umbrella
[] Put away paddling pool
[] Sweep back patio

[x] Print calendar
[x] Make master gift list
[] Make cards list
[] Make socialising/visits list
[] Make list of Parties/Entertaining planned
[x] Draft Christmas menu
[] Draft menu for DD's birthday (26th Dec)
[] Make master shopping list of non-perishable needs to gather in coming weeks

Hi folks,

Every year my heart wanders back here! For YEARS I have done the HGP in some form or another. This year is a special effort though. We are building a house and are going to be moving in the spring, and my house is chaotic. Not the hoarding kind, but enough that some major stuff needs to be tackled. I am using the HGP as a way to BEGIN the pitch and purge process, as well as do my holiday prep. With the stress of building, I need to make this Christmas as stress free as possible, and take advantage of getting stuff done early.

So, this week is list week. My extended family isn't anywhere ready to begin to think about Thanksgiving and Christmas dinners yet, so those menus will be postponed. The rest of it I will work on and study, and over the course of the week try and clean up my front porch and pitch and purge in my half of the garage - the gardening stuff. That can be cleaned up and packed up for the move.

In addition, I am going to haul out the fall decorations from my basement. I will pitch and purge those, and actually get those out this year! Very excited about that! (The basement could take the entire 16 weeks!)

Can't wait - I have already started my shopping!

Greetings! So excited that the HGP has begun!!! :)

I have a busy week this week, with a group of girlfriends coming over Wed night for drinks/snacks and conversation.

So this weekend was spent working on some cleaning projects other than my HGP related ones, so as to be ready for their visit. I also ended up cleaning and reorganizing the unfinished storage area in the basement, so that kind of jumped ahead on the plan.

I did get the front windows cleaned on both the inside and outside, but right now the front porch is "under construction". DH is enclosing it and his tools, etc. are kind of everywhere right now.

However, I still have things I can do! Here is my basic plan for the coming week:

Mon - Continue prep for Wed night, cleaning, etc.

Tues - Grocery shop and prepare food for Wed night

Wed - Have fun!

Thurs (Off Work but DS in daycare still) - CLEAN!!!! HGP!!!! CLEAN!!!

[ ] Sweep down cobwebs
[X] Clean outside of windows
[ ] Clean front of door, inside door frame, etc.
[ ] Wipe down swing
[ ] Sweep porch and steps
[ ] Clean up front flower beds (deadhead, etc.)

Fri (Off Work) - Trip to Deer Forest with DH and DS - can't wait!!!

Sat - Football parties all day!

Sun - Cookout with friends!

Whew! I'll fit in more HGP tasks here and there as I can.

I managed to get a lot of the lists sorted in the coffee shop this morning, so that is progress. Weather was against us doing any outdoor work last night though (flash floods in evening rushhour), and both DH and I just flopped after dinner anyway. But I am hopeful for some progress tonight
