I think the reason we have all bonded so well at MHH is because our initial love of Christmas all year round.

I figure if I'm the only one in my family and friends that is so into it, I can at least come here with friends that understand........

My brother's family gets really into it- during the season- so that is fun.

They love Christmas movies, decorations, music, going to events.

And Ellen- I guarantee you- if you stopped it all for one year- your family would say, "Mom, what about this, what about that? Why aren't you doing anything this year?"
It's just that they are so used to you doing it every year, it's maybe taken for granted......

RoniJo- We're glad you found us too!

And I like what Colleen said- It's our hobby just like knitting or scrapbooking may be to some. There's definetly people's interests I just don't "get" but- hey- if it makes them happy then good for them. If Christmas makes me happy, then good for me! :)

Robin, I like thinking of it as "a hobby". That's a good response..and may put it into perspective for some. Last night at my CIJ party, someone asked me my notebook. I was so EXCITED to share it..LOL My daughter ended up video taping me...they were having a good laugh at my expense, but I didn't care. To think that someone wanted to know about my notebook just made me giddy!! LOL

I'm lucky my family (Mum, Dad, Bro, Aunt) all love Christmas, not to the same extent, but I was on the phone talking to my Aunt planning our 'Christmas Shopping Day' where we all meet for breakfast, then split up and meet back up for coffee or lunch.

My partner is very understanding and certainly gets into the spirit when December rolls around. He even bought Rowan her magic elf last year.

However MHH made me feel that I was allowed to be open about my love for Christmas, whereas ten years ago before I found the previous site I hid it and listened to music in secret etc for fear of being ridiculed.

Also I have been working my way through the tv series 'Brothers and Sisters' and I'm on the last series and watched the Christmas special on July Rudy Day. Anyway the mother of the family (all the children are grown up, some with their own kids for those who haven't watched it) is known for going all out at Christmas; decorating, cooking, baking, socialising. Anyway all the kids 'moan', but the mum decides to go away for Christmas and everyone is stressed and upset. It says it all :-D

Yes this is the place I come when that Christmas feeling hits me. Like the rest of you I love the planning, decorating, shopping, and family being together, so why not think about it all year? My family knows how much I love it but I still have to sneak Christmas music at home and work :) Thanks to all of you who share the "happy stuff" with me!

I LOVE Christmas! I have made Christmas presents for family members for the past 40 years, thinking of each person as I made his/her gift and putting all the love I had into it. I admit that since discovering the Christmas Countdown and then this wonderful forum, I have put much more "celebration" into my Christmas preparations throughout the year. My husband joined me in our monthly celebrations - he loves Christmas music, Christmas movies, and all the little "Christmas goodies." We moved in with my mother this past Spring to take care of her, and she and my sister have ridiculed my Christmas passion to the extent that everything "Christmasy" came to a screeching halt. I miss Christmas!!! I decided to liberate myself (after reading this thread) - we are going to celebrate again!

Grammadeb, glad that you can come here whenever you need a little Christmas escape. I cannot believe some people would be so mean about someone else's joy.

I am very thankful that my Husband and kids enjoy Christmas..maybe not on the same scale as me but its OK. I shop and plan all year for Christmas. Most of my friends and family outside my household are definately not on same page as me ... I doubt we are on the same chapter :)

I do it for my family but a big chunk is I do it for me. Come Dec I want to enjoy Christmas and not be stressed out trying to plan, shop, etc. I find planing and shopping all year takes a lot of stress away come Dec so I can enjoy all the sights and sounds of Christmas.

Come this Christmas spread your love of Christmas with someone outside your family ... maybe deliver a basket or tin of Christmas cookies to a lonely neighbor, flowers to a resident of a local nursing home that would otherwise receive nothing, take treats to local animal shelter.

Although DH is not at the same level as I am with enjoying/celebrating Christmas outside of the month of December, he does appreciate the efforts I make ahead of time.

We are both very frugal people so he totally gets the idea of preparing ahead, spreading the shopping cost out, shopping smart, making gifts, etc.

I get my Christmas fix here at MHH and via Pinterest, etc. Thank goodness!!! :)

My family loves that I'm a fanactic, they have started helping more (December only), after 35 years the husband refers to my Christmas activities during the year and even initiated outdoor lights last year! I'm a hopeful girl :0)

Keep hoping Eaglesax. Good things come to those who wait.

My DH refers to MHH as my Christmas buddies. He even knows some of the girls here.

I feel that way sometimes. I know my extended family love Christmas and over decorate for it, that is where I get it from. I have many great memories of Christmas growing up. My boys don't appreciate it as much I don't think. I feel some of that is a guy thing (no offense to the guys that are here enjoying Christmas) They will help a little with decorating the tree but it their attention doesn't last long. Dh is good with it and will help some. He has accepted my traditions and we have created our own as a family. I Do have some friends that love it like me so it's nice to share that with them.
