Okay, we are ready for a new year! Some mentioned they would like this thread continued so.......

For 2011 I would really like to make alot of the gifts again. I just love to make and give homemade items to people, whether it is food related (mixes, or already made), holiday items or something they can use year round.

I have a mental list started so will list some.

1.) Thread catcher for mom, Miranda, Jaymee and myself (maybe my friend in Iowa)

2.) Snowman pillow Miranda

3.) Bubble Light for my friends in Iowa and mail it to them before Thanksgiving

4.) Coasters--sets of 6

6.) Have the pattern for the table runner so will decide who I would like to do one for

7.) Need to think of the item I would like to do for the 12 Days of Christmas so if they have it again

8.) Need to get some vanilla beans to start more vanilla for next year

9.) See if Jaymee likes that material for a tree skirt or not for her tree

10.) See if Ryan and Jaymee want me to do them a stocking for their house or get their own ( I think his aunt got them stocking kits to decorate them one~maybe)

11.) Quilted Scarf make one for myself and decide on if any for gifts

More ideals will come~~but these are ones I am thinking now.

Today I am going to sew a few slip covers for the weight thingy we use in the drawer for the drive up. Would like to get the first 2 or 3 done.
We need:

1.) winter theme one~~~~~~~~~~~~ DONE 1-2-11 Snowflake material

2.) Valentine's Day

3.) St. Patty's Day

4.) Easter

5.) Spring

6.) 4th of July

and maybe

7.) back to school

So what are your ideals for crafts for the year and Christmas gifts?

Well, Becky of course that is a craft~~~you have to place everything so so, so it will all fit nicely and compact together. And that takes skill!!! My DH doesn't like me to pack boxes inside each other, I take double the space~~~getting better tho.

Becky, you make the prettiest cards. I would love to do cards but that is one more thing to buy items for and store more stuff! But I will be gaining another room when Jaymee is gone, hmmmmmm

I need to start making the stepping stones that I was going to make for Christmas but never got around to. My mom's birthday is the end of January so that will make a good present.

I also would love to start some quilting, but first i'm going to make the apron I bought the pattern for a long time ago.

So, my goal this week is to at least get the pieces cut out for the apron.

As I was putting away my decorations I realized I have a lot of ornaments that aren't broken but are pretty tired and sad. I have a lot of glass balls that have faded or the pain has chipped off. I am keeping those ornaments out and every Rudy Day I plan to give at least a few a face lift.

Cmerth, this is a good time to work on those ornaments. I need to do that too.

Jessica, the stepping stones will make a nice gift. We started some for my mom years ago but haven't gotten the grandkids all together to do one. Maybe her b'day for June or Mothers Day. I still want to do the quilting too.

Thod, that is also a good ideal to do a few a month and won't be so much at once. Be fun to see all back in shape.

Lana-how do you make bubble lights? I would like to see the link to that one.

I don't have any crafts planned for this week, I really need to get Christmas down before I do any thing else. After that I really need to start knitting some dish rags. I had a teacher that I gave some to as a gift tell me they wanted more and would buy them from me. I have one done but need to make some more and decide on a price.

When I say bubble light I am talking about putting a strand of lights into the bottom of clear plastic cups and then putting the 2 halves together and making a big ball. Years ago campers use to use them. We put some up at Christmas onto our cedar post. Will try to find a link. Not sure where my instructions are and it has been 7 or 8 years since we (DH) made them.

Those lights are so cute Lana I'd like to have 1 for my front porch. I'm not sure what I'll get crafted this week as we're still getting my DGD over this nasty mess. She loves to craft with me so I'd feel bad working on something when she didn't feel like it.

Shannon I plan on making some washclothes this year & adding a nice bar of soap to go with them for a gift...

Thank you so much Lana for keeping this thread going...

Really thinking on what I want to make this year no more store bought like this year was but it was a rotten year last year and so far this year isn't any better around here. Soon will be though lots of changes for me and the kids.

I do know that I have to make at least two teeshirt quilts for my two boys I would like to make themfor my nefews also but first my two. One of course will be all Syracuse basketball for my oldest. Hmm wondering if I can steal that new basketball one he just got for Christmas (yea probley not for a couple more years)

I want to make at least two bandana quilts for the girls too and hopefully for two of my nieces the little one is getting a new collection of felt food since she loves what I have already made for her and daddy to have parties

I have been looking for Batman things to make for Kennys best friends little brother for his birthday. He loves Batman Kenny went thru his own Batman collection to give some to him.

I really need to get working on Randas birthday stuff too

Jampss, that is a very nice list. I am sure with starting now you will get it done! My grandma use to crochet on old Chirstmas cards.

KimD, that is alot of quilts but once again I think you can do it by starting now. I have several t-shirts that I have of DD's that she saved for one.

I wonder how the cards would look with a blanket stitch instead of crochet around them? Just thinking outloud...

Fluttering happily in the clouds!!
I need to finish clearing Christmas, but what i am concentrating on crafts-wise this week is getting the new study/craftsroom operational fully. We got the desk, the old pc is now installed and working again (I'm on that rather than laptop tonight - yay, much easier!), the bookcase is moved and refilled, the new bookcase is installed and filled, and my sewing machine and materials are all moved upstairs from the kitchen.

I need to get the rest of my stash from the storage, but I have a small space set aside to keep UFOs, so that I wll finish those first.

I also had to do some regular sewing, to mend my coat (button got torn off) and DH's glove (lining poking through) - these are done.

Tonight, I am working on my overall list for this year, and a plan to achieve it (once I finalise it, I will post it on the annual thread - but that may not be until later this week or early next once I get it all worked out). And then I'll post weekly tasks as I go along on the weekly thread.

Well, I think it is like a blanket stitch, actually.
