I am really behind on this this year. I did stockup on Christmas and Winter themed cup cake papers in different sizes, several Christmas themed tins and cookie platters bu other then that havent bought anything else as I havent found any good deals yet. The hallmark stores near me just marked down their Christmas stuff to 60% and they still have a lot left. Waiting for them to mark down to 75% and then I will head out and see what I can find. We have been putting money away in a Christmas club so that is coming along nicely.

Hallmark finally went to 75% off so I picked up a new ornament for each of my kids and one for one of my nieces. Also picked up some Charlie Brown interactive Christmas books to use as gifts. There is another Hallmark store near my work so I plan on stopping there sometime next week to see if they have any different ornaments.
Still getting together some stocking fillers. The stockings are always something that I try to put a lot of up effort into. I am always trying to come up with new and exciting items.
Got a few shirts and blouses for my mum which were heavily reduced in the post summer sales, t shirts were $3.00 each.

Stopped in a local Kmart yesterday and just as we were walking the manager was loading up 3 shelf cart with toys marked to from $1 to $5. There was nothing my kids wanted but there were a lot of nice toys so we picked up 6 different ones to put aside for Toys for Tots. We got over $100 worth of toys for $7.
We did find a bunch more toys on clearance with an extra 30% off the already marked price. We picked up a lego city set for our son for more than half off that is being put away for Christmas.
Feels good to have nice jump start like this.

Putting things off for a little while until my job situation improves. Having said that, with the stuff I already have we could have Christmas tomorrow. It would be a little bare, but could be done.
That is great Katrina. Shows that with our ahead-preparation we are in better shape than most people even if there are hard-times in our lives.

I agree with being more prepared than most. I used to get a hard time from some extended family members for Christmas shopping year now and now some of them are jumping on board or at least thinking about jumping on board
Me personally I enjoying shopping year round as some gifts are easier to get during some seasons then others. Plus sometimes life throws curve balls when we least expect it ... job loss ... an expensive repair ... health problems .... the more prepared the better you can handle it. Besides duringthe holidays I would much rather spend time doing things with my familys then out shopping.
Speaking of shopping ... picked up DVD tv series sets at 50% last week. Got them tucked away for Christmas.

got some things while I was out of town for the gift closet . dvds clothes a jacket for my granddaughter will fit by christmas
I love that everyone is just taking small but steady steps to ensue that we have things put aside in the gift closet.
Went to the dollar store the other day and picked up a few make up brushes and nail decals for my daughter's stocking. She is at that stage where she is starting to use make up and loves nail polish. I am going to try to pick up a few stocking stuffers each month. If caught off guard those stocking stuffers can more expensive then some gifts.
Agreed Minta, sometimes the stocking fillers can add up. I try and look for fillers every time I shop, even if I just write ideas in my notebook.
